TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. – Dawson Creek and Tumbler Ridge RCMP are searching for two people allegedly involved in a theft that occurred earlier Tuesday in the Dawson Creek area.

Posts on local social media groups suggest as many as 8 vehicles and an armoured vehicle are in the area between the hill above Dead Elk Pit to Teepee Falls.

An article from the Tumbler Ridge Lines posted Tuesday has initial information confirmed by RCMP.

A K-9 unit as well as several police officers and vehicles are in the area of Highway 52 north, near the Hourglass road turnoff, according to acting Tumbler Ridge detachment commander Constable David Ribeiro.

“There’s no concerns for public safety at this time, however, we’re asking the public to call 911 if they observe anyone walking on highway 52 north near the Hourglass Road turnoff,” said Ribeiro.

The two individuals were reportedly seen fleeing the area on foot.

More to come.
