VICTORIA, B.C. – Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry identified Dawson Creek as a high-priority community based on the 7-day average case count per 100,000 population.
Dawson Creek has a rate of 552.31 per 100,000, which is the highest in the province.
Dr. Henry announced the community of Dawson Creek would be targeted for the Astra Zeneca vaccine.
“We have recognized that transmission in Dawson Creek is a challenge. Starting today, these communities will have AstraZeneca-based clinics that will target people aged 40 and above to get the vaccine, now, as we continue with the older populations in our age-based program.”
The government predicts the positive impacts of the vaccine program on hospitalizations will start towards the end of April.
