FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – Trystan Jones handed in his nomination papers Tuesday after announcing his candidacy for council on Moose Talks in March.

“It is my hope that we can begin putting a diverse portfolio and to have people in power that represent the way the region is going,” said Jones during the March 26th interview.

Five candidates have submitted their nomination papers to run for an empty council seat after councillor Becky Grimsrud resigned in January.  As of April 6th, the candidates are Sarah MacDougall, Tom Whitton, Jim Lequiere, Jon Gosselin, and Trystan Jones.

Energeticcity will be publishing an article on each candidate, which will include their platform and background, ahead of the election.

Those wishing to toss their hats into the ring have until April 9th at 4 p.m. to submit their Candidate Nomination Package.

The by-election will take place on May 15th at the Pomeroy Sport Centre. Advanced voting is expected to take place on May 5th and May 12th. Special voting opportunities are expected to occur at senior care facilities on May 13th and the hospital on May 15th.
