VANCOUVER, B.C. – The President of the BC Teacher’s Federation has released a statement regarding the new vaccine prioritization rollout announced Thursday.
In the release, BCTF President Teri Mooring says, “the last year has been incredibly stressful on everyone in the school system. Like all British Columbians, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought stress, anxiety, and even grief to our personal and professional lives. I join all of my teacher colleagues in expressing huge relief that educators across BC will be prioritized in April to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.”
Mooring says teachers, support staff, and other education workers have been going above and beyond every day to make sure that students are safe, as well as making sure staff are safe.
On Thursday, it was announced that 300,000 frontline workers will be receiving their first dose of the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine next month, April. This includes first responders, K to 12 educational staff, child care staff, grocery store workers, postal workers, and more.
