TAYLOR, B.C. — The District of Taylor is hosting its Community Clean-Up Day event and hopes to have more than 80 participants.

According to a Facebook post uploaded to the District of Taylor’s page on April 13th, the event has been scheduled for May 13th from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. to keep Taylor looking its “best.”

The District of Taylor’s recreation programmer, Sherri Maycock, said: “We [want to] encourage community members and local industry partners to come out and help clean up the community.”

The purpose of the clean-up is to improve the community.

“[It] is just basically to get the community to come together and clean up the community for the better, for a better place to live and to work. It just looks better for everyone,” she added.

People interested need to come to the community services hub, which is located at Cherry Avenue, to pick up supplies.

Maycock added: “So we provide disposable gloves and garbage bags.”

“And then everyone who participates in the cleanup receives a voucher for a free lunch at Lone Wolf Golf Club afterwards.”

This year, Maycock hopes participation exceeds last year’s numbers, which was 80 people.

“We’re just hoping to get a great turnout this year,” she said. “In previous years, we have had a lot of participants, industry partners and community members come out and join us. It’s always great to see and we’re looking forward to hopefully having a great turnout again this year.”

As per the post, a BBQ lunch will follow the event from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lone Wolf Golf Club located at 99th Avenue.

The event does not require registration.
