VICTORIA, B.C. – The Ministry of Health has announced the most popular baby names for 2020.
According to the Province, the top names are Olivia, for the second year in a row, followed by Oliver, Noah, Lucas, Emma, Theodore, Benjamin, Ethan, and Charlotte.
In 2019 the most popular name was Olivia, followed by Oliver, Liam, Lucas, Ethan, Noah, William, Benjamin, Charlotte, and Theodore. For the last eight years, Olivia has been one of the most popular baby names for babies born in British Columbia.
All baby name data was collected by the Vital Statistics Agency’s preliminary figures from January 1st to December 17th, 2020. During this time period, a total of 39,322 babies were born across the province. In 2019, 43,703 babies were born.
