FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Staff and students of Bert Ambrose Elementary School, have been informed by Northern Health, for a second time, that they may have been in contact with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19.

The exposure took place from December 17th to 18th. Staff and students should self-monitor for symptoms until January 1, 2021.

Staff and students at Magaret ‘Ma Murray’ Community School were also informed of a COVID-19 exposure from December 14th to 16th. This is the fifth exposure at Ma Murray.

Northern Health says every school in B.C. has a COVID-19 safety plan in place. In this case, the safety plan was followed, and because of this, the risk of additional cases is low.

Health Authorities say exposure to a confirmed case does not mean you or your child will become sick with the virus and that Northern Health has contacted anyone that directly came into contact with the confirmed case.

Further information on public exposures can be found on Northern Health’s website.
