VICTORIA, B.C. – BC Transit has announced it has finalized agreements for additional COVID-19 funding with the Government of Canada and Province of B.C.
This funding will allow BC Transit and local government partners to provide services that customers can rely on despite any impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pandemic has impacted BC Transit and its partners; now, the $86 million in funding for 2020-21 and 2021-22 will help cover the costs of lost revenue at the farebox and any additional expenses to improve the safety and comfort of staff and customers.
The $86 million is part of a $1.08 billion funding package from the Government of Canada and the Province of B.C. to support local governments and public transportation.
More information on the funding announcement can be found on the Province’s website.
