VANCOUVER, B.C. – A former CEO of BC Hydro says the BC Government is not doing enough to ensure that the Site C dam is built safely.

Ken Farquharson, the Former CEO of BC Hydro, says, “The government is knowingly taking advice on Site C from an ‘independent engineer’ with deep ties to BC Hydro. It’s also acted swiftly on one notable occasion to accept that engineer’s advice when circumstances called for extreme caution. And now we have big problems at Site C. As a former engineer and a resident of British Columbian, I am deeply concerned by the government’s attitude when it comes to the safety of this project.”

Farquharson and president Marc Eliesen as well as the Peace Valley Landowners Association are looking for an immediate halt to construction at Site C. They’re also looking to appoint an independent panel of experts with no ties to Hydro to assess the geotechnical and safety risks at Site C and the government’s oversight.
