Power outage affects over 9,000 customers in the South Peace
UPDATE: Power has been restored in Dawson Creek and Pouce Coupe after the lights went out for several minutes. Customers are still without power in the Tumbler Ridge. BC Hydro says that crews are enroute and expect to arrive at 6:25 p.m.
DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Over 9,000 customers in the South Peace are without power this evening.
According to BC Hydro’s website, a total of 9,306 customers lost electricity at around 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The outages are affecting customers from Dawson Creek south toward the Highway 2 junction with Highway 52E near Tupper, including Pouce Coupe. Over 750 customers are also without power in Tumbler Ridge.
BC Hydro says that the cause of the outage is under investigation. This is a developing story, and we’ll have an update as soon as we get more information.
