Man goes missing on Liard River after boating accident

FORT NELSON, B.C. — RCMP in the Northern Rockies district are continuing their search for a 65-year-old Fort Nelson resident, who went missing after a boating accident on Monday on the Liard River.

The man, along with two others, were on a river boat in an area known as Hell Gate on the Liard River, located north west of Fort Nelson. Their boat they were in capsized, and sent all three into the river.

While two men were able to make it two shore, a third man has not been located.

An extensive search has been underway since Tuesday when the survivors were located and able to get help.

Mounties, along with Search and Rescue personnel from Fort Nelson and Fort St. John, have been working with a significant number of family, friends and community volunteers to conduct a comprehensive search for the missing man.

The RCMP says an unbelievable number of volunteers has helped search for the man after the tragic accident.
