The declaration is due to wildfire and interface fires occurring in the district.

The Regional District says the emergency requires ‘prompt coordination of action or special regulation of persons or property to protect the health, safety or welfare of people or to limit damage to property.’

The order will remain in place for the next seven days, and requires immediate action as under the Emergency Program Act.
