High end, low end gas prices in B.C. 51 cents apart

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — For the most part, the retail price of gasoline has stabilized across the country. The B.C. average and the common posted price in Fort St. John are right where they were a week ago.

According to the latest check of GasBuddy.com, the provincial average is still a 105.4, and three and half cents higher than the local posts of a 101.9.

According to Senior Analyst Dan McTeague, there’s little reason to suspect the current situation is about to change.

He also says it’s not a given this year that all Canadians will see a demand driven increase driven by the summer months.

Meantime, Alberta has reclaimed the low-end average at 84 cents, led by about a dozen Costco outlets in the Edmonton and St. Paul areas, at 74.9.

Back in this province the Price George Costco again has the low end price, and according to GasBuddy is the only outlet in B-C still below 90 cents a litre, at 88.9.

However, according to the same monitor, the best coffee counter conversational price in the province is north of Prince George on Highway 97, and motorists heading south through the Pine Pass take note.

B.C.’s high-end price is a 139.9, at the Bear Lake Petro-Canada outlet — resulting in a 70-kilometre provincial price difference of 51 cents a litre.
