Fortis completes Aitken Creek deal with Chevron
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — According to a press release, Fortis has completely acquired Aitken Creek Gas Storage ULC from Chevron Canada Properties Ltd.
Fortis entered the agreement with Chevron in December, with closing expected to occur within the first half of 2016.
Barry Perry, President and CEO of Fortis, says this acquisition reflects the company’s focus on natural gas development in this province.
“The Aitken Creek gas storage facility is uniquely positioned to benefit from future development of British Columbia’s natural gas resources to serve both domestic markets and LNG exports,” he added.
It is the site of the only underground natural gas storage facility in B.C. It has a total working gas capacity of 77 BCF, and is located in the heart of the Montney production region.
