Two candidates have announced their bid for the title so far — Mayor of Fort St. John, Lori Ackerman, and city councillor Dan Davies.

Both ran against each other previously for the title in 2009, which ultimately went to the current member of legislative assembly, Pat Pimm. He announced his intentions to retire after the next provincial election in November.
