Dragons’ Den producers making a stop in Grande Prairie

GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B. — For fans of the show and local entrepreneurs who are interested in growing their business, take note: Producers of CBC’s Dragons’ Den are making a stop in Grande Prairie on March 2, 2016.

CBC says their 35-city audition tour, launching in February, welcomes participants of all ages, with businesses in any stage of development. Producers ask people planning to audition in person fill out the application form, as it’s crucial to having a business appear on the TV show.

“Auditioning in person is very helpful, but not necessary to get on the show,” as stated online. “The sooner you apply, the better chance you have of being on the show.”

The pitch should be five minutes or less, and if they show the producers they can go ahead and make that pitch in the Den, they could be invited to Toronto to face the Dragons.

Back in 2013, a Fort St. John woman appeared on the program. Heather Johnston pitched her baby bottle company to the dragon, with Arlene Dickinson offering her $100,000 for 50 per cent and a 15 per cent royalty. Johnston accepted the offer.

B.C. cities producers are touring include Cranbook, Abbotsford, Vancouver, Nanaimo, and Victoria. The only other cities being toured in Alberta are Calgary and Edmonton.
