Christmas tree collection set for the New Year
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — In exchange for a $500 donation from the City, four community groups will pick up any natural Christmas trees, with decorations removed, placed at the curb within city limits on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 — between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The City says pick-up service is weather dependent, and in the event there are severe weather conditions, the pick-up could be postponed until January 16th.
North Peace Secondary School’s Grad Fest & Prom Committee, Scouts Canada and the Northern Dance Theatre Society will each take a corner of the city and spend the day collecting old trees.
The trees will be dropped off at the old Visitor Centre site, on the corner of 100 street and 96 avenue, where the City will take them to be processed by means of being chipped and composted.
VRE Tree Removal will be taking care of tree chipping. Trees can also be directly taken to the drop off site up until Jan. 29, 2016.
