Peace Region in for a mild and dry winter, says Weather Network
You may have already noticed from the lack of snow and temperatures sitting above or at zero, but The Weather Network says the Peace Region is in the warmer-than-average weather this winter.
The first half of winter will see above-normal temperatures with below-normal precipitation, says Meteorologist Nadine Hinds-Powell.
“We’re into an El Niño year, and typically we do get mild conditions heading into winter during an El Niño year, so this above-seasonal expectation isn’t out of the question.” said Hinds-Powell.
She noted that this does not mean that winter is cancelled here in the Peace, and we can expect at least a few great snowfalls and a few cold snaps over the winter — especially the second half.
At this moment, Hinds-Powell says it’s still too early to tell, for sure, when we will see snowfall, or if there will be snow on the ground in time for holidays like Christmas.
