Movember comes to an end with ‘shave-off party’
Today is the final day of Movember — as officially proclaimed by the City of Fort St. John — and it’s time for many to lose the mustaches.
During the month of November, mustaches were grown internationally to raise awareness and funding for men’s health issues.
The proclamation of Movember was brought to Council this year by Marc Beerling, Neil Evans, and Mike Mercanti on October 26th. More than a month later, Beerling’s total is at $1,450, with his team’s total at $1,700.
A five-time participant of Movember, he said he typically sees a burst of donations come in on the final day of the month — with a rough estimate of $750 last year.
To end the month-long grow-a-thon formally, Boston Pizza will be hosting a ‘shave-off’ party for participants tonight, from 6 PM until 9 PM.
It will also be another chance to buy the Movember-themed calendars the team put together — for a minimum of $30 donated.
