The North Peace Savings & Credit Union has announced plans to expand further into the region – specifically, the South Peace region.

The Credit Union is planning on opening their 5th location in Dawson Creek, following their current locations in Fort St. John, Hudson’s Hope, Taylor, and Fort Nelson.

This will be their first significant geographical expansion since 2012 with the entrance into Taylor’s Micro Service Centre.

CEO Mitchel Chilcott wrote in an e-mail that part of the decision was to serve their member population in the South Peace – which is 137 members.

“We have a growing membership based in Dawson Creek for both our retail and commercial services,” he wrote. “By opening a Service Centre in Dawson Creek, we will be able to provide a higher level of service to these members, as well as other existing members who are conducting business in Dawson Creek.”

Although Dawson Creek isn’t on the north side of the Peace River, the NPSCU doesn’t anticipate any big changes to their distinct ‘North Peace’ title, as they expanded to Fort Nelson without adjusting their name.

Onsight will include two experience specialists to assist members in the Smart Service Centre, paired with a Business Account Manager and a Mortgage Specialist who will be located in the South Peace marketplace.

The exact whereabouts of Dawson Creek’s location is not known yet, but it is reported that it should be opening it’s doors next spring.
