A Fort St. John man facing terrorism related charges made his first court appearance this morning.
Othman Ayed Hamdan appeared in a brief five-minute hearing via a video link from a small concrete room from the Fort St. John RCMP detachment.
Hamdan, 33, stood calm and silent with his arms folded in front of him as federal Crown prosecutor and duty counsel agreed to adjourn Hamdan’s bail hearing until Wednesday afternoon.
Hamdan is facing three counts of counselling to commit murder and assault causing bodily harm on behalf of a terrorist group from incidents alleged to have occurred March 21 earlier this year.
He is facing another three counts of counselling to commit murder and assault causing bodily harm on behalf of a terrorist from incidents alleged to have occurred between Sept. 22, 2014, and July 9, 2015.
Hamdan has agreed to remain in custody until his bail hearing, set for 1:30 p.m. on July 15.
