REVIEW INTO REHTAEH PARSONS CASE RESUMES
A review of how police and Nova Scotia’s Public Prosecution Service initially handled the Rehtaeh Parsons case is resuming. Murray Segal will give an update on the review today after delaying it in November 2013 until legal proceedings involving two men charged in the matter concluded.

WYNNE SAYS SOME SEX-ED PROTESTERS HOMOPHOBIC
Premier Kathleen Wynne says she has no doubt homophobia motivated some of the hundreds of people who protested Ontario’s new sex education curriculum this week. Wynne, who is gay, says she looked at the protest on the front lawn of Queen’s Park and social media comments on the revised curriculum and concluded some of the opposition is homophobic.

BATTLE WITH DRUG DRONES IN SIGHTS OF NEW JAIL
One of Canada’s newest jails is researching the use of detectors to prevent the invasion of drug-bearing drones that have plagued some North American prisons. Tim Carroll, superintendent of the Northeast Nova Scotia Correctional Facility, said staff are examining ways to prevent unmanned aerial vehicles from lowering contraband into the jail’s airing yards in a rural area north of Truro.

VISITATION TODAY FOR TORONTO BOY WHO FROZE TO DEATH
A visitation is scheduled for today for a Toronto boy who died after wandering outside in the middle of a bitterly cold night dressed only in a shirt, diapers and boots. Three-year-old Elijah Marsh died a week ago after leaving his grandmother’s apartment building, sparking a search that gripped people across the country. His family has extended a public invitation to today’s visitation and Saturday’s funeral.

ALLAN GOTLIEB: CANADA-US RELATIONSHIP AS COOL AS HE REMEMBERS
The elder statesman among all former Canadian ambassadors to the United States says he’s never seen the relationship between the two governments quite this cool. Allan Gotlieb, 86, was speaking in an interview this week, a day after President Barack Obama vetoed legislation to build the Keystone XL pipeline. Gotlieb said he doesn’t see the Canada-U.S. relationship as bad, just not the same.
