Alberta Premier Jim Prentice says 3 of 4 government planes sold for $6.1M

CALGARY — Alberta Premier Jim Prentice says his government has sold three of four planes that were part of the provincial fleet.

Prentice ordered the sale of the fleet shortly after he became premier in September.

He told a Calgary audience says the sale price was $6.1 million.

The province’s auditor general released a report last year that slammed former premier Alison Redford over her use of government aircraft.

He said she booked false passengers to flights and gained “personal benefit” by taking her daughter on dozens of government flights.
