Unemployment rate continues to drop in Northeast B.C.

The number of people working in the region could drop in February with the decrease in the price of Oil and Natural Gas.  We will have to wait for those number to know for sure, as they won’t be released until early March.

Across the province the Northeast continues to have the lowest unemployment rate with Kelowna at 2.9 per cent and North Coast & Nechako at 4.7 per cent.  The region with the highest unemployment rate in B.C. is Abbotsford-Mission at 6.5.

The Province saw a slight increase in the unemployment rate from 5.4 to 5.5.

Across the country employment increased by 35,000 in January. This pushed the unemployment rate down 0.1 percentage points to 6.6 per cent.
