Divorce & separation mediation in Fort St. John: Information session

“If they’re [married couple] caught in a court battle, they’re in that mind-set of me against him – or me against her kind of thing – and they refuse to talk and share information,” Mediation B.C.’s public education and training coordinator Dave Alexander explains the benefits of an alterative route. “And that’s why mediation is better, because the mediator will help each party to talk – to explore what it is that they really want to achieve and try to find a middle ground.”

Mediation has been found to resolve more than 80 per cent of all family disputes, according to Mediate B.C. It’s also a more cost effective option, as the average total for a mediator is less than $2,000 when all is completed, compared to the average of $14,00 for each party when going through the court system.

“There are mediators all over the province who can assist people to resolve many of theses conflicts more quickly and affordably, and arrive at solutions which are more tailored to their needs and enduring for all parties,”  Executive Director of Mediate B.C. Kari Boyle writes.

Family mediation information tables will be set-up at the Fort St. John Courthouse – located on 10600 – 100 Street – on Tuesday February 3, 2015, running 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
