The Fort St. John Huskies are set to jump into another season with training camp kicking off on Friday.
Coach Bob Kalb is returning behind the bench for his fourth season in charge, while Jeremy Clothier will return as Kalb’s assistant and Bill Snow returns as manager.
The Huskies expect to have a well-stocked roster this year with plenty of skilled players, including 2009/2010 NWJHL Rookie-of-the-Year Robbie Sidhu and high-flying defenceman Payden Wongstedt.
The pups are looking to bounce back after an upset loss to the Grande Prairie Wheelers in the 2010 NWJHL semi-finals.
The Huskies training camp begins on Friday, with registration at 6 p.m. Any players interested in trying out for the team are invited to call General Manager Vince Pederson at (250) 263-4399 or Bill Snow at (250) 785-1285.
The Huskies have just two games on their pre-season schedule.
On Sept. 17, the pups will visit Dawson Creek to take on the Jr. Canucks. On Sept. 19 at 2 p.m., the Huskies will host the Peace River Navigators. All proceeds from the Sunday home game will go to KidSport.
The regular season begins on Sept. 25/26 when Fort St. John hosts the Slave Lake Wolves for a weekend double-bill.
As usual, Moose FM will broadcast Huskies road games starting on Oct. 8 when the Huskies visit Dawson Creek.
