Effective Thursday Dawson Creek and Pouce Coupe residents will be under Stage-3 water conservation measures.

Among other things, that means lawn watering is prohibited, and all other watering must be carried out by hand using a hose equipped with an automatic shut off device.

A city of Dawson Creek news release adds, permits to water newly seeded or turfed areas are no longer available, and any previously issued ones are no longer valid.

It says the stricter conservation measures are required, because water in the Kiskatinaw River, the City’s sole water source, is now at an historically low level.
