Quick Facts on Olympic Torch RelayÂ
Date: Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Sunday, January 31, 2010Â
Time:        Celebration Start 5:00 pm – Centennial ParkÂ
        Torch Relay Start time 5:30 pm – Heritage Manor on 107th AvenueÂ
The Torch Route      Â
• Starts at 5:45 in front of Heritage Manor on 107th AvenueÂ
• It turns south on 100th StreetÂ
• It turns west on 100th AvenueÂ
• It turns south on 108th StreetÂ
• It turns east on 97 Avenue – torch will be carried by Jamie Lee around theÂ
outdoor oval next to Bert Bowes Jr. Secondary School, we have specialÂ
activities for those who come watch this unique leg of the Torch Relay. Â
This will happen at approximately 6:05pmÂ
• Continues east on 97th AvenueÂ
• Turns south on 100th StreetÂ
• Turns into Centennial Park where Ross H MacLean, the final torchbearer,Â
will light the cauldron at approximately 6:30 pmÂ

Route Activation ActivitiesÂ
• Look for the 7 foot Olympic Torch Relay signs (one for each locationsÂ
torchbearers pass the flame to the next torchbearer) along the routeÂ
• There will be specially planned activities going on at each locationÂ
• We will be giving away free noise makers, Canada flags, Olympic TorchÂ
Relay flags, hot chocolate on the route
The Community CelebrationÂ
• Wear Red to show your support for our athletesÂ
• Pre-celebration activities begin at 4:30 pm in Centennial Park – crafts andÂ
games for the kids, including the ice slide compliments of the High on IceÂ
FestivalÂ
• Official Celebration gets underway at 5:00 pmÂ
• Many local and internationally recognized performersÂ
• Enjoy free hot chocolate and Olympic cookies made by the North PeaceÂ
Secondary School culinary program and distributed by the KinsmenÂ
• Sign a community card to wish Fort St. John’s own speed skater DennyÂ
Morrison and skeleton competitor Michelle Kelly good luck at theÂ
Vancouver 2010 OlympicsÂ
• Torch Relay Sponsors Coca Cola and RBC will have special featureÂ
interactive booths setupÂ
• Warm-up next to the oversized bonfireÂ
• Enjoy the unveiling of 3 pieces of art work commissioned specifically forÂ
this event: an Ice Sculpture by carver Dave Diehl; Â a story written by theÂ
Fort St. John Writers Circle; and a permanent sculpture to be unveiled byÂ
Mayor Lantz during the celebrationÂ
Transportation and ParkingÂ
• Parking is going to be an issue at all the local facilitiesÂ
• Park at Safeway and ride the new public transit bus which is fullyÂ
wheelchair accessibleÂ
• Bus runs 4:30 – 7:30
