Growing oil and gas industry interest in the South Peace continues to foster a building boom Dawson Creek.

Mayor Mike Bernier is quoted in a Canadian Press report as saying city council has dealt with an unprecedented number of development permits and rezoning requests, at its first council meeting this year.

One development, which goes to the expected increase in oil and gas activity, is a 930 square meter truck shop.

The mayor says the influx of new projects means more than just a larger tax base for the city. He says, "When people are spending that kind of money, they obviously have confidence in the economy and the market in Dawson Creek, that their investment will be safe, and they’ll be able to make a profit as well.”
