Oil Exploration Protest

ly Lake Cree Nation is planning a weekend oil patch traffic blockade, on the BC side of the Alberta border. The specific location will be at the junction of Secondary Highway 671 and, the Heritage Highway. It could impact but, it won’t stop, Highway Two public traffic, heading into BC, on the Heritage Highway.

Clayton Anderson is a consultant working with the band, which has major health and safety concerns with the oil and gas exploration in the area. Kelly Lake is about 70 kilometers south of Dawson Creek and, 100 kilometers east of Tumbler Ridge, just west of the Alberta border. It has about 400 residents and, has been involved in land claim negotiations with Ottawa since 1994 but, the dispute has roots that go back more than a century…
