The City and Northern Health will be co-hosting a public meetingtomorrow, at the North Peace Cultural Center, on the specific location,of the new Fort St. John hospital.
As reported in April the hospital will be a 15 thousand square meterfacility, with 55 hospital beds, and a 123 bed residential senior’scare facility.
The health authority is considering a possible location change forthe facility, on the proposed 40 acre property donated by the city, inthe northeast sector.
The original proposal put the hospital site on the southeast corner of the lot off the east by-pass road but, architects are now suggesting using the southwest corner off 86th street.
At last week’s city council meeting, they argued using the southwestcorner would be easier, as the land is more level, and could betterintegrate the lot’s wetlands.
They also suggested the change in location would help promote theidea, of the hospital complex being more a part of the community.
However, there are also concerns about the proposed change, which among other things go to traffic flow.
The open house is set to run from 5 to 8pm.
