Drunk Driving Numbers

The Fort St. John RCMP is also advising the public that the force is vigorously cracking down on drunk drivers.

Over the past weekend alone, 9 people were charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving over 0.08 per cent blood alcohol content.

These 9 people face a 24 hour driving prohibition, a 90 day license suspension, a towed vehicle, and a court date to answer to criminal code charges.

In addition, the RCMP handed out three 24 hour suspensions.

The Fort St. John RCMP is hoping these suspensions will serve as a warning to anyone considering driving under the influence – don’t drink and drive.

In 2007, 33 per cent of all fatal collisions involved impaired drivers
