The Peace Region is still at a high risk for Forest fires, according to the Prince George Fire Centre.
Although temperatures are cool, the ground is still dry and minimal heat is needed to quickly increase the risk of a wildfire.
Last week, there were 22 new forest fires in this part of the province. Many of the fires were lightning caused and are now out or fully controlled. The fire rating remains high in the areas west of Fort St. John.
Last year at this time the Fire Centre had responded to 61 fires…already this year they have responded to 93 fires.
