SURREY — Police in British Columbia say an actor who appeared on series such as “Virgin River” and “Murder in a Small Town” may be the victim of a homicide.

Stewart McLean, also known as Stew McLean, was reported missing Monday after last being seen on May 15 at his home in Lions Bay, about 30 kilometres north of Vancouver.

Homicide investigators say they have taken over the case after Squamish RCMP found evidence that the 45-year-old McLean may have been killed.

Police are urging anyone with information on the actor’s disappearance to contact investigators, as the case shifts from a missing-person to a homicide investigation.

McLean is listed by entertainment database IMDb as an actor and producer with credits in TV series such as CW’s “Arrow” and Netflix’s “Travelers.”

The actor, born in Edmonton, last appeared onscreen in one episode of the Netflix TV series “Virgin River” released in March.

“Squamish RCMP initiated an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe Mr. McLean was the victim of a homicide,” a release from the Integration Homicide Investigation Team says.
