Water shutoffs, boil water notice in Hudson’s Hope water leak investigation

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — Hudson’s Hope is currently in the process of investigating a ‘significant’ leak in the town’s water system. 

In a Facebook post, the District of Hudson’s Hope said district staff will temporarily shut off water to different parts of the town in order to find the leak.

The district said shutting off the water will allow staff to narrow down the source of the leak. Each shutoff will last up to four hours.

On April 28th, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the following addresses will have their water access temporarily shut down. 

• Dudley Drive 10003, 10005, 10007, 10101 to 10108, 10200 and 10500
• Garbitt Crescent 10201, 10203, 10205, 10207, 10209, 10211, 10213 and 10215 
• Holland Street 10201
• Jones Crescent 10501, 10503, 10505, 10507, 10509 
• MacDougall Street 10101
•  Macintosh Crescent 10101, 10102, 10105, 10106, 10109, 10110, 10112, 10113, 10116, 10117, 10120, 10121, 10124, 10125, 10127, 10128, 10130, 10132, 10134, 10136, 10138, 10140 
• Turner Crescent 10202, 10204, 10206, 10208, 10210, 10212 

According to the district, “because parts of the system may lose pressure during this work, the district will issue a precautionary community-wide ‘boil water’ notice as of Tuesday, April 28th at 1 pm.” 

According to the Government of Canada, a ‘boil water’ notice is an advisory meant to inform consumers to boil their water in order to protect against bacteria, viruses or parasites. 

The district said once water sampling shows the water is safe to drink, which is expected to occur between May 8th and 15th, the ‘boil water’ notice will be lifted.
