“We recognize that this space holds deep meaning for many in our community, and that changes in this area may bring up a range of emotions,” the district said.

“For some, this step may feel difficult or come sooner than expected.”

In coordination with School District 59, the municipality made the decision to reopen the road, while making efforts to balance the community’s wellbeing, safety and the gradual return of regular use of shared spaces.

As part of this change, the gates will be relocated to the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School parking lot to prevent access to the school grounds.

In addition to this, the school property will remain fully fenced and secured.

The district is encouraging residents to take the time and space they need as this transition occurs.

Support will remain available to people who may need it, and residents who feel affected are encouraged to reach out, the post said.

The district thanked the community for its continued care, understanding and respect for each other.
