Fort St. John trucking company praises community support after fire

Fort St. John’s Poor Boy Trucking, which suffered a building fire on March 28th, is thanking the community for its support.

CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. — A local trucking company has thanked first responders and community members after a fire damaged much of its building in Charlie Lake.

Just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 28th, firefighters in Charlie Lake were called to a structural fire at Poor Boy Trucking. 

Days after the structural fire, Poor Boy Trucking took to Facebook to thank first responders from Charlie Lake and Fort St. John.

“We would like to sincerely thank the Charlie Lake Fire Department, Fort St. John Fire Department, RCMP, paramedics, BC Hydro, PNG and everyone involved for their quick response and support during this incident,” the post read. 

The company also thanked an unknown individual who helped move trucks out of the fire. 

“There was one gentleman, whose name we do not know, who pulled in behind Tim and immediately began helping move vehicles…

“Without your help, we could have lost even more equipment. Your quick actions made a significant difference. Whoever you are, we sincerely thank you.” 

In the post, the company says no staff or customers were injured. 

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) said 15 firefighters from Charlie Lake responded to the fire, along with five from Fort St. John.

According to its website, Poor Boy Trucking has been transporting oil equipment in the Peace River area since 1998. 

Energeticcity.ca reached out to Poor Boy Trucking for more information, but it declined to comment.
