CHETWYND, B.C. — Customers at a Chetwynd laundromat can begin Good Friday with some cuddles courtesy of local bunnies.

Hart Hi-Way Laundromat is a business servicing the residents of the community, and will offer the chance to snuggle up and get to know Alaska, Pebbles, Pearl and London during Good Friday on April 3rd.

The family-run business has been in Haley Springer’s family for 12 years. Springer bought the laundromat in July 2025.

A self-professed “animal freak,” Springer holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and has a hobby farm which includes some Nigerian dwarf goats and several mix-breed bunnies.

Springer told Energeticcity.ca she wanted to have isolated people in the community come into the laundromat at 4804 North Access Road to experience some affection.

“Sometimes holidays like this can be a lonely time for people,” said Springer. “It just gives a little bit of joy in people’s lives. [For]  just a little moment, even if they come in for like a minute, [we] can spread some love.”

Alaska is a lionhead purebred rabbit, and was bred with Gizmo, a Holland lop bunny who Springer rescued from Vernon.

Alaska gave birth to Pearl and Pebbles, lionhead-Holland lop cross bunnies. Meanwhile, through another litter in 2025 came London, who Springer nicknamed London Fog.

Customers can come in between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, April 3rd, take a picture or get a cuddle while they do their laundry. There will also be Easter treats during the day as well.
