FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd provincial courts between February 2nd and February 6th.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, February 2nd

Matthew Edmund Duffy (born 1983)

Duffy was found guilty of assault with a weapon and being unlawfully in a dwelling house on April 12th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were handed a conditional sentence – which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest’ – for a period of eight months and a DNA order. They were also ordered to report for sample collection and handed a probation order for 18 months. 

Duffy was also sentenced to jail time served.

James Colin Gladue (born 1984)

Gladue was found guilty of assault on October 9th and 10th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were handed a jail-time-served sentence and a probation order for 24 months. 

Gladue was also found guilty of refusal on October 12th, 2025 and breach of a release order on October 16th, December 27th and 29th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were sentenced to the jail time already served plus 16 days, fined $2,000 and banned from driving for one year.

Wayne Bradley Pizzey (born 1968) 

Pizzey was found guilty of driving with a prohibited or suspended licence on November 2nd, 2023 in Fort St. John. 

They were handed a jail sentence of 90 days, a driving prohibition for three years and fined $1,000. 

Pizzey was also told to pay a victim surcharge of $300, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime.

James Kenneth Henry Thompson (born 1993) 

Thompson was found guilty of : 

  • Theft worth $5,000 or under on July 16th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 
  • Theft worth $5,000 or under on June 9th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
  • Assault on June 16th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
  • Fraudulently obtaining food or beverage or accommodation on September 17th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 
  • Dealing with an identity document without a lawful excuse on September 17th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000 on September 17th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 
  • Breaching an undertaking on September 19th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and robbery on September 19th, 2025 in Fort St. John.  
  • Theft worth $5,000 or under on April 26th, 2025 in Fort St. John.
  • Motor vehicle theft and theft over $5,000 on October 16th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 
  • Theft worth $5,000 or under on October 13th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were sentenced to:

  • Jail time served. 
  • A conditional sentence of two years less a day.
  • A probation order for 18 months.
  • A DNA order and ordered to report for sample collection. 
  • A lifetime firearms prohibition. 

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, February 4th

Lucas Savard (born 1999) 

Savard was found guilty of uttering threats and possessing weapons for a dangerous purpose on July 27th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 

They were handed a conditional discharge, which means the record won’t show a conviction if a person meets the conditions the judge sets, a DNA order and were given a probation order for 18 months. They were also subject to forfeiture – which allows the government to seize property and assets ‘tainted’ by crime. 

They were also ordered to report for sample collection, told to pay a $400 victim surcharge and given a firearms prohibition for 10 years.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, February 5th

Terri Lynn Wolfe (born 1978) 

Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Wolfe in an incident on June 3rd, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were issued a $100 recognizance after the allegation for a period of 12 months. If Wolfe fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $100.

Chetwynd Provincial Court sentencing, February 5th

Trevor George Gauthier (born 1986) 

Gauthier was found guilty of breaching a recognizance on August 3rd, 2024 in Moberly Lake. 

They were handed a probation order of 12 months and a suspended sentence, where they are given conditions to follow.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, February 6th

Michael Scott Marshall (born 1971)

Marshall was found guilty of driving with a prohibited or suspended licence on March 13th, 2025 in Fort St. John. 

They were sentenced to jail for 14 days, prohibited from driving for two years and must pay $100 as a victim surcharge. 

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, February 6th

Petri Antero Jantunen (born 1975) 

Jantunen was found guilty of operating a vehicle while over 80mg of alcohol in the blood on January 26th, 2025. 

They were handed a one-year probation order, fined $2,000 and must pay $300 as a victim surcharge.
