Taylor seeks funding for ice centre and golf clubhouse renovations
The District of Taylor is applying for Northern Development Initiative Trust grants to support planned renovations at the District Ice Centre and the Lone Wolf Golf Course Clubhouse.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The District of Taylor council has applied for grant funding to help renovations at the District Ice Centre and the Lone Wolf Golf Course Clubhouse.
During the council’s February 2nd meeting, a report from staff outlined two applications to the Northern Development Initiative Trust, which would cover up to 70 per cent of each project’s budget.
The district’s current 2025 capital budget indicates $50,000 allocated to each project for a total of $100,000, which would be used to cover the remaining 30 per cent not covered by any successful grants.
At the District Ice Centre, upgrades include new tiles in the kitchen and showers, ice upgrades and resealing the floor of the Zamboni room.
At the Lone Wolf Golf Club, upgrades are slightly more extensive:
- Redoing drainage at the bottom of the loading ramp
- Adding a second serving station
- Replacing the tables and chairs for the dining area and deck
- Replacing three exterior doors and adding an accessible auto door opener
- Rebuilding the front entrance stairs
- Replacing the fence around the back kitchen entrance
According to the report, staff are still collecting quotes from suppliers to “build the exact scope of each project,” and any adjustments will be communicated to the council.
