Weather warning of 90km/h winds issued for Fort Nelson, B.C. Peace River

The Peace River region in B.C. and areas of Fort Nelson are forecasted to receive winds gusts of 90km/h on January 14th, prompting Environment Canada to issue a weather warning.

FORT NELSON, B.C. — A yellow weather warning has been issued as wind gusts are expected to reach 90 kilometres per hour in the B.C. region. 

Environment Canada issued warnings for both the Peace River in B.C. and areas of the Fort Nelson region on January 14th. 

The heavy wind gusts are forecasted to hit the area by the afternoon.

There is no expected end time for the alert in the warning. 

Terming the impact level as moderate, strong gusty winds are expected to develop due to a low pressure system passing today. 

Environment Canada estimates that driving conditions will likely be difficult and high-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind.

It also suggests people monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. 

According to Environment Canada, a yellow warning means hazardous weather that may cause damage, disruption or health impacts. 

This type of warning is termed to be moderate, localized and/or short term.
