Tumbler Ridge non-profit partners with two organizations for $105,000 funding
A non-profit organization in Tumbler Ridge, the Tumbler Ridge Outdoor Recreation Association (TRORA), has partnered with the Tumbler Ridge Community Forest and Conuma Resources.

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — A Tumbler Ridge non-profit organization has received a commitment worth $105,000 from two major corporations.
Tumbler Ridge Outdoor Recreation Association (TRORA) took to Facebook to make the big announcement about the commitment they received from the Tumbler Ridge Community Forest and Conuma Resources.
The Tumbler Ridge Community Forest has committed to a $15,000 contribution for five years while Conuma has committed to $15,000 for two years which will be used towards TRORA’s annual operational costs and programming.
Talking about how the partnerships started, Jane Miedzinski, executive director at TRORA, shared it delivered presentations on TRORA’s corporate memberships to both the community forest and Conuma Resources.

She said: “In addition to these two key partners, we have also engaged with several other leading organizations, offering updates, gathering feedback and ensuring alignment on community priorities.
“These interactions help us maintain strong relationships, support coordinated efforts and reinforce TRORA’s role as a dependable and proactive partner in the development and stewardship of recreation in Tumbler Ridge.”

Miedzinski shared how these commitments benefit the community of Tumbler Ridge who have a deep passion for the outdoors.
She told Energeticicity.ca: “Whether it’s hiking the countless trails, biking through scenic routes, walking in our vast natural spaces, exploring by off-road vehicle or enjoying world-class snowmobiling opportunities.
“Each of these recreational activities is supported and maintained by dedicated non-profit groups, all of which rely on the essential overhead support provided by TRORA.”
Through the community forest and conuma resource partnerships, the trails are kept safe and accessible, signage is maintained, events can be organized and new opportunities for outdoor adventure can continue to grow.
Miedzinski said both these corporations and TRORA share a strong alignment in core values.
“The community forest emphasizes long-term forest health and habitat protection, Conuma Resources focuses on responsible resource extraction and land reclamation and TRORA promotes sustainable, respectful use of both front-country and back-country recreation areas,” she said.
Talking about how these contributions help, Miedzinski said: “Contributions to TRORA are immeasurably important. TRORA provides summer student jobs, operates a vibrant and impactful youth division, organizes fundraisers and partners with the District of Tumbler Ridge on the exciting Trail Master Plan and Destination Management Framework, set for completion this spring.”
The Trail and Destination Management Strategy is an initiative that will guide sustainable development, management and promotion of the community’s trail network and tourism assets.
