Outdoor skating rinks open at Kin and Mathews Park
Both the leisure ice and boarded rinks at Fort St. John’s Kin Park have been opened to the public, along with the oval loop at Mathews Park.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The City of Fort St. John has opened its outdoor skating rinks for the winter, thanks to recent cold weather.
In a Facebook post on December 7th, the city announced both the leisure ice and boarded rinks at Kin Park are now ready for use, along with the oval loop at Mathews Park.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the rinks safely and respectfully. The city recommends wearing helmets and reminds skaters to keep sticks and pucks to the boarded rink at Kin Park.

Washrooms at both parks are open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Anyone who notices issues with the ice surfaces or facilities is asked to report them by calling 311 or using the ‘report a problem’ form on the city’s website.
Fort St. John has experienced consistently cold weather since Friday, December 5th, with temperatures ranging from the minus teens to 20s.
Environment Canada’s forecast projects temperatures will drop further, potentially reaching a low of -33 C on the night of Thursday, December 11th.
