‘We would just like this nightmare to end’: Mother’s appeal for information two years after son’s disappearance

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The mother of a man missing from Dawson Creek has made an appeal for information two years after he disappeared. 

Julie Lynn Hosack posted to Facebook on November 25th, the anniversary that she last saw her son Cole Hosack in 2023. 

The 24-year-old was reported missing early in 2024, after last being seen on December 31st in Dawson Creek.

“We just want to bring him home so we have some closure, so we can feel so we can remember the good times,” said Julie, before pointing to a missing poster behind her. “Not these moments.

“We would just like this nightmare to end.”

On November 25th, 2023, Julie met Cole and had lunch with him.

In the post, Julie wrote: “Two years ago today I hugged my son for the last time…and I didn’t know it was the last time.

“If I had known, I would have held on longer. I would have breathed him in deeper. I would have slowed down, stayed longer, memorized everything — the sound of his voice, the smell of his hoodie, the way he always made the world feel lighter.”

She urged anyone with information about Cole’s whereabouts to come forward. 

“Please — come forward,” she added. “Do the right thing.”
