TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — Northern Health has warned patients about a scam impersonating the health authority.

In a Facebook post in its Tumbler Ridge group on November 10th at 5 p.m., Northern Health said it has “become aware” people are receiving texts pretending to be about their ‘hospital account.’

However, these are fake and not sent by Northern Health.

“When in doubt, don’t hesitate to reach out to us to confirm anything using Northern Health or its facilities’ names are legitimate initiatives associated with the health authority,” the post reads.

Do not provide any personal information, such as addresses or bank details, without first confirming an approach is genuine, it advises.

Anyone who believes they have been the victim of fraud is urged to report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
