(UPDATE) RCMP close 96th Street in Fort St. John near scene of last week’s shooting
Fort St. John RCMP have closed a section of 96th Street between 96th Avenue and 94th Avenue Wednesday morning as they investigate an incident in the same area where a shooting took place last week.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John RCMP have closed a section of 96th Street between 96th Avenue and 94th Avenue Wednesday morning as they investigate an incident in the same area where a shooting took place last week.
As of 7:30 a.m., police remained on scene with the road blocked in both directions. The RCMP have not yet released details about the nature of the incident or whether it is connected to last week’s shooting.
On October 24th, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 9600 block of 96th Avenue around 5:30 a.m.
Four people were arrested on weapons-related charges after police located evidence of an exchange of gunfire at a nearby home.
Investigators at the time said they believed the shooting was targeted and linked to gang activity and the local drug trade.
Then the RCMP reported another shooting on Tuesday, October 28th, in the Peace Country Mobile Home Park, and a man was arrested in connection with the incident.
