Arraignment adjourned for woman charged after Fort St. John stabbing

Kayla Trudeau was charged following a Fort St. John police investigation into a reported stabbing on August 28th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The arraignment hearing for a woman arrested following a Fort St. John stabbing has been postponed.

Kayla Trudeau was arrested on August 28th following a police investigation into a report of a stabbing on the same day in the area of 100th Street and 99th Avenue.

Following the investigation, a man was taken to hospital with what officers described as “non-life-threatening injuries.”

Trudeau was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. 

Officers held her in custody for a bail hearing that was scheduled for late September. 

According to Court Services Online (CSO), that hearing was adjourned — with the consent of all parties involved — and its new date has yet to be announced.

Following an additional early-September hearing to consult with counsel, Trudeau was scheduled to appear on Monday, October 6th for an arraignment hearing, where she will enter pleas.

CSO now says that hearing was also adjourned, this time at the request of the defence. Trudeau’s arraignment is now scheduled for Monday, October 27th.
