The sale sees all properties in the city with three years of unpaid taxes auctioned to residents, as a requirement of the Local Government Act.

All the properties offered in the tax sale are being sold for their ‘upset price,’ which is equal to all outstanding taxes, penalties, interest, a five per cent fee for the costs of the tax sale itself and fees for the provincial Land Title and Survey Authority (LTSA).

The most expensive property listed as eligible for purchase at the auction has an upset price of $22,734.76, while the least expensive lot will cost its buyer $2,625.74.

However, all properties are sold as-is without any warranties or guarantees by the city.

Anyone who owns a property listed as eligible for the tax sale can retain their ownership by paying their delinquent taxes by Friday, September 26th.

The list of available properties is available on the City of Fort St. John’s Facebook page, and more information regarding the tax sale process can be found on the city’s website.
