FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson Provincial Courts from July 21st to 25th.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, July 21st

Janeh Cree Apsassin (born 1999):

Apsassin was found guilty of breaching a release order for an incident in Taylor on January 27th, 2025. Apsassin was issued a suspended sentence, where the accused is given conditions to follow, as well as a one-year probation order and a $100 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime.

Carla Farquhar (born 1984):

Farquhar was found guilty of driving while disqualified under the Canadian Criminal Code for an incident in Doig River on February 21st, 2023. Farquhar was issued a $1,000 fine, a $150 victim surcharge and a one-year driving prohibition.

Tammy Simons (born 1971):

Simons was issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation following an incident in Taylor on March 25th, 2025. If Simons fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they will have to pay the $500.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, July 22nd

Amber Marie St. Laurent (born 1992):

St. Laurent was found guilty of driving a motor vehicle without due care or attention for an incident in Fort St. John on May 26th, 2024. St. Laurent was issued a $1,000 fine, a $100 victim surcharge and a three-month driving prohibition.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, July 22nd

Stacy Ray Laglace (born 1987):

Laglace was found guilty of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer, breach of a probation order and possession of stolen property for an incident in Kelly Lake on March 31st, 2025.

Laglace was sentenced to 99 days in jail in addition to time already served and received a lifetime firearm prohibition.

Christopher Darryl Munch (born 1996):

Munch was found guilty of two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking and one count each of careless use or storage of a firearm, loading or unloading with ammo a restricted or prohibited firearm, possessing a firearm contrary to an order, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and breaching a probation order for incidents in Fort St. John and Charlie Lake between October 2021 and February 2023.

In addition to time already served, Munch was sentenced to 157 days in jail, ordered to report for DNA sample collection and received a lifetime firearm prohibition.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, July 22nd

Autumn Heather Cummings (born 1989):

Cummings was found guilty of breaching a probation order for an incident in Fort Nelson on October 23rd, 2024. Cummings was issued a suspended sentence and a one-year probation order.

Tyson Jeremy Rich (born 1997):

Rich was issued a $300 recognizance after the allegation following an incident in Fort Nelson on April 19th, 2025. If Rich fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $300.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, July 23rd

Dakota Nathan Joe Behn (born 1996):

Behn was found guilty of mischief obstructing the use or enjoyment of property and breaching a release order for incidents in Fort Nelson in March 2024 and May 2025. 

Behn was issued a suspended sentence and 16 months of probation, and ordered to pay $200 in restitution, which requires the offender to pay the victim for financial losses the victim suffered because of the crime.

Christopher John Hauser (born 1972):

Hauser was issued a $300 recognizance after the allegation following an incident in Fort Nelson on June 29th, 2024. If Hauser fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $300.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, July 24th

Jeremy Daniel Benterud (born 1975):

Benterud was found guilty of driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended licence for an incident in West Kelowna on March 19th, 2025. Benterud was issued a one-year driving prohibition, a $500 fine and a $75 victim surcharge.

Kelli Elizabeth Girouard (born 1985):

Girouard was found guilty of assault for an incident in Fort St. John on May 25th, 2024. Girouard was issued a 12-month probation order and a conditional discharge, which means the record won’t show a conviction if Girouard meets the conditions the judge sets.

Teresa Mary McPhee (born 1982):

McPhee was found guilty of assault for incidents in Fort St. John on May 25th and June 1st, 2024. McPhee was issued two one-year probation orders and two conditional discharges.

Jason Carl Schafer (born 1981):

Schafer was found guilty of assault causing bodily harm for an incident in Fort St. John on July 18th, 2024. 

Schafer was issued a 365-day conditional sentence, which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest.’

Schafer was also issued a 12-month probation order and a $100 victim surcharge, and ordered to report for DNA sample collection.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, July 25th

Michael David Hobson (born 1984):

Hobson was found guilty of breaching a release order and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm for incidents in Fort Nelson in August 2024 and May 2025. Hobson was sentenced to jail time served and received an 18-month probation order and $200 in victim surcharges.
