Small fire near Fort St. John ‘being held’ by BC Wildfire Service

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A small wildfire, which sparked only six kilometres from downtown Fort St. John, has quickly been contained by firefighters.
The fire, which was discovered the morning of Tuesday, July 29th west of the Beatton River near Fort St. John, was initially labelled as ‘out of control’ but is now classified as ‘being held’ by the BC Wildfire Service.
The fire is currently estimated at just 0.009 hectares in size.

The ‘being held’ classification indicates that, based on current weather and fuel conditions, as well as the availability of firefighting resources, the fire is not expected to expand beyond its current perimeter.
While the exact cause remains unknown, the fire is believed to be human-caused.
